Verify Student Activity in Blackboard with the Course Report Function

Question

How can I use the Course Report function in Blackboard to verify student activity in a course?

Environment

  • Blackboard

Information

Here are some additional tips for verifying student interaction with a course:

  • Verify the student has access to the content they are trying to access.
  • Students may need to clear web browsers cookies and cache if content is not loading or there are errors and/or try another web browser.
  • Students may experience technical issues, such as network connection problems or computer crashes. They should be encouraged to contact their instructor immediately when this happens, and to provide specific details about the issue. It is important to note that technical issues are sometimes outside of their control.
  • Students are advised to contact IT Support for any technical issues.

Answer

If a student reports that they are unable to find or see content within a course that you have made available, you can use the Course Report function in Blackboard to verify what they have been viewing in the course.

  1. Go to the course in Blackboard.
  2. Click Evaluation from the Course Management menu from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click Course Reports.
  4. Click on the next to Student Overview for Single Course.
  5. Click Run.
  6. Select the student you want to run the report for.
  7. Select the dates for which you want to report on.
  8. Click Submit.
  9. This will open a new window with the requested report, which will detail when and what the student attempted to access, and for how long.
