Clearing Cookies and Cache

Issue

Webpages are not displaying/functioning correctly.

 

Environment

  • Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Google Chrome
  • Google Chromebook

 

Resolution

Note: Slight variations in this process may occur between the Windows and Mac operating systems.

In nearly all browsers running on a Windows OS, pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete on the keyboard will bring up the appropriate menu.

 

Internet Explorer

  1. Go to the Tools menu (at the top of the page)
  2. Click Delete Browsing History
  3. Un-check Preserve Favorites website data
     
    Note: If Preserve Favorites website data is left selected, the clear may not resolve the issue. Please make sure to deselect this item.
  4. Check Temporary Internet files
  5. Check Cookies and website data
  6. Click Delete
  7. Close all open Internet Explorer windows for changes to take place.

 

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the (Firefox) Tools menu
  2. Click Options
  3. Click Privacy and Security
  4. Under Cookies and Site Data Click Clear Data
  5. With boxes checked click clear
  6. Click Clear Now
  7. Close all open Firefox windows for changes to take place

 

Google Chrome

  1. Click the Tools menu. (the three vertical dots in the upper right hand corner)
  2. Hover over History
  3. Select History
  4. Click Clear browsing data...
  5. Check the boxes for the types of information you wish to delete
    • Clear browsing history
    • Empty the cache
    • Delete cookies
  6. You can also choose the period of time you wish to delete cached information using the Clear data from this period drop down menu
  7. Click Clear Browsing Data when ready

 

Safari

  1. Click the Safari menu in the top bar, just to the right of the Apple  logo
  2. Choose Preferences
  3. Click the Privacy tab
  4. Click Manage Website Data
  5. Click Remove All Website Data
  6. Click Remove Now
Note: For iPhone directions vary slightly follow directions provided by Apple Support.

 

Edge

  1. Click the Tools menu. (the three vertical dots in the upper right hand corner)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Click Privacy & security.
  4. Under the heading Clear browsing data click the Choose what to clear button.
  5. Check the boxes for the types of information you wish to delete
    • Browsing history
    • Cookies and saved website data
    • Cache data and files
    • Tab's I've set aside or recently closed
    • Download history
    • Autofill data (includes forms and cards)
    • Passwords
    • Media licenses
    • Website permissions
  6. Click Clear when ready

 

Chromebook

  1. Navigate to the Chrome menu that is located in your browser toolbar
  2. Click on More tools
  3. Clear Browsing Data
  4. You will now be prompted with a dialog box that asks you to choose what exactly you want to delete
    • Click on Clear browsing data
