Issue

Web pages are not displaying/functioning correctly.
How do I clear cookies and cache?

 

Environment

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Google Chrome
  • Google Chromebook
  • Brave (Browser)

 

Resolution

In nearly all browsers running on a Windows OS, pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete (MacOS Ctrl+,) on the keyboard will bring up the appropriate menu.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the (Firefox) Tools menu (Newer Firefox installations call it Application Menu or the Burger icon.
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Privacy and Security
  4. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data
  5. Click Clear Data
  6. With boxes checked click clear
  7. Click Clear Now
  8. Close all open Firefox windows for changes to take place

 

Google Chrome on Windows

  1. Click the Tools menu. (the three vertical dots in the upper right hand corner)
  2. Click Delete Browsing Data...
  3. Check the boxes for the types of information you wish to delete
    • Clear browsing history
    • Empty the cache
    • Delete cookies
  4. Choose All Time using the Time range drop down menu
  5. Click Clear Data when ready
  6. Close all open Chrome windows for changes to take place

 

Google Chrome on Macbook

  1.  Open Google Chrome
  2. Choose Chrome in the top bar
  3. Click Clear Browsing Data
  4. Select the time period and what you want to clear
  5. Click Clear Browsing Data
  6. Quit Chrome for changes to take place

 

Safari

  1. Click the Safari menu in the top bar, just to the right of the Apple  logo
  2. Choose Preferences
  3. Click the Privacy tab
  4. Click Manage Website Data
  5. Click Remove All Website Data
  6. Click Remove Now
  7. Quit Safari for changes to take place

 

Edge

  1. Click the Tools menu. (the three vertical dots in the upper right hand corner)
  2. Select Settings
  3. Click Privacy, search, and services
  4. Under the heading Clear browsing data click the Choose what to clear button.
  5. Check the boxes for the types of information you wish to delete
    • Browsing history
    • Cookies and saved website data
    • Cache data and files
    • Tab's I've set aside or recently closed
    • Download history
    • Autofill data (includes forms and cards)
    • Passwords
    • Media licenses
    • Website permissions
  6. Click Clear when ready
  7. Close all open Edge windows for changes to take place

 

Chromebook

  1. Navigate to the Chrome menu that is located in your browser toolbar
  2. Click on More tools
  3. Clear Browsing Data
  4. You will now be prompted with a dialog box that asks you to choose what exactly you want to delete
    • Click on Clear browsing data
  5. Close all open Chrome windows for changes to take place

 

Brave

 

  1. Open Brave
  2. Click the 3 stacked lines (Menu) or Burger icon
  3. Click on "Privacy and Security" on the left-hand side
  4. Click "Clear Browsing Data" in the middle (trash can icon next to it)
  5. Select a time range and the history you want to delete
  6. Click Clear Data
  7. Close all open Brave windows for changes to take place​​​​​​​
