To create an extra credit column in the Grade Center that is not included in the student's overall grade calculation, instructors can create a column with 0 points possible and include it in the Total column calculations. This allows instructors to assign extra points to students as needed without penalizing those who do not participate.

To set up extra credit in the Grade Center, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Blackboard.
  2. Navigate to the desired course.
  3. From the course menu to the left, click Grade Center underneath Course Management
  4. Click Full Grade Center.
  5. Click Create Column in the upper-left.
  6. Enter Extra Credit for Column Name
  7. Select Score for the Primary Display.
  8. Enter 0 for the Points Possible.
  9. Select Yes for Include this Column in Grade Center Calculations.
  10. Click Submit.
