Viewing Student Photo Roster in Blackboard

Question

How do I view my student photo roster?

Environment

  • Blackboard

Answer

The Class Photo Roster was part of what Blackboard calls Building Blocks. These were third party features that were developed outside of Blackboard. Unfortunately, Blackboard has inactivated most of its Building Blocks as of January 4th, 2024, so they can no longer be used.

We do have a few options that allow you to see photo icons:

Option 1

  1. Navigate to your Course
  2. Select Tools
  3. Select Course Roster
  4. Leave the Search field blank
  5. Select Go next to the Search Field
  6. You now have the list of students with their photos
    • To see a larger photo you can select the Photo and it will pop out a larger icon
    • Additionally, you can right click on the photo, select Save Image As and download the photo (make sure to add .jpeg to the photo name)
    • Lastly, you can change the zoom level of your browser

Option 2

  1. Navigate to your Course
  2. Select Users and Groups
  3. Select Users
  4. Select Go next to the Search Field
  5. You now have the list of students with their photos
    1. To see a larger photo you can select the Photo and it will pop out a larger icon
    2. Additionally, you can right click on the photo, select Save Image As and download the photo (make sure to add .jpeg to the photo name)
    3. Lastly, you can change the zoom level of your browser

The Photo Roster pulls photos from student RaiderCards. If a student does not have a RaiderCard, or if they have chosen to keep their photo private, their photo will not be displayed in the Photo Roster.
