Issue
A computer is not turning on.
Environment

Resolution
- Ensure that the power cable is plugged into the back of the computer
- Ensure that the power cable is plugged into a power strip/wall outlet
- Ensure that the power strip is plugged into the wall
- Ensure that the power strip is turned on (light may not be turned on)
- Press the power button on the computer
- Ensure that the lights on the computer are on (they should be green)
- If the lights are not turning on, may be a connection issue with the power supply, or an internal problem)
- Listen for any noises coming from the computer (you may hear a fan)
- If you hear noise, but nothing is displaying on the monitor, there may be an issue with the connection to the monitor)
- Ensure that the monitor is on and everything is plugged in correctly
- There should be a green light indicating it is powered on.
- If the light is orange/yellow the monitor is in standby mode.
- Standby means the monitor is not receiving a signal due to the computer being asleep, not plugged in, or the wrong source is selected.
- Switch to a different source on the monitor (physical button on the monitor, often shown as a rectangle with an arrow coming out of it)
Note: If the computer is in a Deep State of Hibernation or Sleep, it may be needed to hold down the power button for 20-30 seconds will force the laptop to fully shut down. Pressing it a single time following that should bring it back up.
