Information
In Windows 11, the Snipping Tool is not set to open new screenshots in different windows by default. In this configuration, each new screenshot will open in the same window, replacing the previous. This can be frustrating when multiple screenshots need to be referenced at the same time.
To change this behavior, follow the below steps.
Environment
Process
- Open the Snipping Tool
- Type "Snipping Tool" in the Search bar or click Start (🪟) → All → Snipping Tool
- Click the three horizontal dots in the upper-right corner
- Click Settings
- Scroll until you see Multiple windows
- Click the associated slider so that it moves into the On position
- Click the arrow to the left of Settings to return to the main Snipping Tool screen
Each new screenshot will now appear in its own window.
