Information
Parking in downtown Grand Rapids is at a premium and with your student ID card you can get access to the student rate of $3.50 per day as an all day- flat rate. For you to get this rate, please use your ID card to scan in and out of the gates. If you fail to use your card to enter you will be charged a second time if you park again within the same day.
You are responsible for keeping an eye on your balance and can utilize the tools in the student link to set up automatic deposits and a low balance alert so that you are prepared for time at GRCC’s downtown campus. There are a few alternatives for parking other than the ramps. Please visit www.grcc.edu/parking to explore your options.
Parking is Free at our Tassell Mtec and Lakeshore campus.

Process
Policy- Student may be eligible for refund:
- Any parking issue within the first two weeks will be reviewed for a refund. Failing to scan in during the first two weeks of each semester may be eligible for a refund, but will only provide one $3.50 refund within the first two weeks of the semester starting.
- If you experience a parking gate malfunctioning and a student was required to pull a ticket to enter and results in a double charge later on, the student would be eligible for refund.
- Students who cannot find a suitable parking space or looped through the parking gates in less than 15 minutes will be eligible for a refund. But must have scanned in and scan out to show they looped right through the gates. Not eligible if they eventually did find parking on campus (Because of the single charge for all day parking does still take effect).
- Student accidentally scanned card twice at the exit (per review) and double charges are eligible for a refund resulting in 1 exit fee.
- Student scanned card and the transaction went through, but the gate did not raise and had paid the “lost ticket’ Free. I refunded $12 with proof of payment that matches, Must have scanned in to entrance and show proof that payment went through with a receipt or bank/CC statement
- If you do pull a ticket to enter, you can still exit with the student ID card, however you would forfeit the one charge per day rate the college offers.
Not eligible:
- Students will not be eligible if they do not have a raidercard available to pay, or did not load enough funds for the exit or the card is damaged.
- If you are requesting a refund after the set time to request a refund. Students have 5 weeks from the date of the event to submit a claim.
- User parking errors will not result in a refund after the first two weeks (not scanning in results in double charge).
- If the EV charging stations are not available, that is not cause for refund.
Resolution
- For your parking refund to be reviewed, please email raidercard@grcc.edu within 5 weeks of the occurrence. Please include all important notes such as your name, student ID number, Date/time, what happened, and why you are eligible for a refund. You will receive follow up communication within 2-3 business days.
- Issues submitted after 5 weeks from the date of occurrence will not be reviewed.
- Parking that is paid using the parking tickets dispensed at the entrance of the GRCC ramps must be resolved with Ellis parking. GRCC has no responsibility to review this if you do not use your raidercard as these are public ramps.
