Why do staff / faculty get an external recipient warning banner when emailing students?

Answer

You see that message because students use different email addresses than staff and faculty. Students have @email.grcc.edu, and staff/faculty have @grcc.edu.

The “External” label and warning banner remind you to be careful with messages from outside the organization. This helps prevent accidentally sharing private information.

Unfortunately, we can’t turn off this warning for student emails, so it will always show up.
