What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Question

What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and what does it look like on the MyGRCC portal.

Environment

  • MyGRCC Portal

Information

To increase security, Multi-Factor Authentication will now be enforced in the MyGRCC portal.

Answer

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) (also referred to as 2-Step Verification) adds an additional layer of security to your account in case your password is stolen. You’ll now sign into your account in two steps using:

  • Something you know, like your password
  • Something you have, like your phone

The default MFA method is by sending a verification code to your personal email that we have on file.

You can choose to remember up to 5 devices for a total of 14 days to prevent having to use MFA at every login.
