Mapping S: or J: Drives (On Campus Only)

Issue

S: or J: drive are not shown after logging in to the computer.

 

Environment

  • Windows 10
  • Mac OS
  • Active Directory
  • Shared Network Drive

 

Resolution

PC

S: Drive

  1. Right-click on This PC
  2. Select Map Network Drive
  3. Select S: from drop down box for the drive letter 
  4. Enter \\storage.grcc.edu\shared in the Folder field
  5. Click on Finish

 

J: Drive

  1. Locate the J drive
    • the location may be either of the following
      • \\storage.grcc.edu\HomeDir\UserName
      • \\storage.grcc.edu\HomeDir4\UserName
  2. Right-click on This PC
  3. Select Map Network Drive
  4. Select J: from drop down box
  5. Enter the location discovered above in the Folder field
  6. Click on Finish

 

Mac

S: Drive

  1. Press Command + K on the keyboard
  2. In the Server address field, type smb://storage.grcc.edu/shared/
  3. To add as a favorite, click the  icon 

 

J: Drive

  1. Press Command + K on the keyboard
  2. In the Server address field, type smb://storage.grcc.edu/homedir4/username
    • alternatively the folder may be under smb://storage.grcc.edu/homedir/username
  3. To add as a favorite, click the  icon
