Dell All-In-One Cameras

Question

How can I tell if my Dell All-In-One (AIO) computer has a webcam and where it is located?

Environment

  • Dell All-In-One (AIO) computers
  • Integrated Webcams

Information

Dell All-In-One (AIO) computers often feature a "pop-up" style webcam. This retractable design is intended to protect user privacy by allowing the camera to be physically hidden within the monitor frame when not in use.

Identifying Your Model

To verify if your specific machine includes this feature, you can check the following:

Locating and Using the Webcam

The webcam is built into the top center edge of the monitor. Because it is retractable, it may be flush with the frame and appear "missing" at first glance.

  1. To Open: Gently press down on the rectangular tab at the very top center of the monitor. The camera assembly will spring upward.
  2. To Close: When you are finished with your video call, press the camera unit straight back down into the monitor frame until you hear or feel a "click." This physically disconnects the camera and ensures your privacy.

Troubleshooting Tip: If your camera is "popped up" but the screen remains black in apps like Zoom or Teams, ensure the Camera Status Light (located next to the lens) is on, and check your Windows Privacy settings to "Allow apps to access your camera."
