ALEKS Tests and GRCC lab computers

Issue

When attempting to start an ALEKS test using certain lab computers LockDown Browser OEM is unable to launch.

  • Clicking on the test link on ALEKS webpage either shows the LockDown Browser splash screen or doesn't produce feedback at all.

Information

If the LockDown Browser OEM splash screen does not appear then the software may need to be installed. ALEKS provides a download link for tests taken on their platform. If using a device provided by GRCC and admin credentials are requested on attempting to install LockDown Browser OEM, please contact IT Support for next steps and alternative resources.

The devices in LRC 110 and LRC 200 are not presently being deployed with the necessary software for taking an ALEKS test. The list below shows which labs are currently able to support this use case:

  • Main Campus
    1. ATC 215 (Open Lab)
    2. CAH 100 (Math Open Lab)
    3. CAH 111A & B (Math Laptop Carts)
    4. CAH 111 (Classroom, not available for open testing use)
    5. CAH 112 (Classroom, not available for open testing use)
    6. SCC 325 (Academic Testing Center, appointment needed)
    7. SCC 358 (Disability Support Testing Center, appointment needed)
  • Lakeshore Campus
    1. LAK 129 (DSS Individual Testing Room)
    2. LAK 131 (DSS Individual Testing Room)
