Star important messages in Gmail so that you can go back and look at the email later.

Process
Computer
Star An Email
- Open Gmail on your computer.
- Click Star on the left of message.
- If the message is open, click Star to the left of Reply button.
- If multiple stars are enabled, keep clicking the star icon until you see the one you want to use.
- To enable multiple stars, see Add More Star Options below.
Search For Starred Emails
- Open Gmail on your computer.
- Click Starred.
- You may need to click More first.
Note: You can also use shortcuts to find starred messages by searching is:starred or has: with the star's name, like has:yellow-star.
Add More Star Options
You can add stars of different colors, or other icons.
- Open Gmail
- Click Settings > See all settings
- Scroll down to Stars
- Drag icons between Not in use and In use
- Click Save Changes.
Android
Star An Email
- Open the Gmail app on your Android phone or tablet
- Tap Star To the right of the message or subject
Search For Starred Emails
- Open the Gmail app on your Android phone or tablet
- Tap Menu In the top left
- Tap Starred.
iPhone & iPad
Star An Email
- Open the Gmail app on your iPhone or iPad
- Tap Star to the right of the message or subject
