Issue
My YouTube Video(s) have suddenly become unavailable.
Environment
Information
YouTube recently made a security update to Unlisted videos that were uploaded before January 1, 2017. These videos were made Private. As a result, viewers will have trouble viewing these video links from YouTube. They will be prompted with a message that states ‘Video unavailable. This video is private.’ Authors of the video(s) will need to make them public.
Resolution
Changing the Video Settings
- Sign in to YouTube Studio
- Select Content from the left menu
- Point to the video you'd like to update
- To see your live uploads, select the Live tab
- Click the down arrow under Visibility and choose Public, Private, or Unlisted
- Click Save
Alternatively, if you have the original video, you can re-upload the video in your YouTube account, making sure to update to the new link in the appropriate places.
Note: If your video was published on GRCCtv you will need to contact the IT Support Desk at (616) 234-4357 or itsupport@grcc.edu to have it fixed since this is managed by the IT Media Group.
