Renames are done for a few reasons. Primarily, to avoid Active Directory trust relationship errors caused by multiple machines having the same name.

Reminder: User changing the computer name locally must be logged in as an admin to do so.
- Open the Run dialog box (WIN+R)
- Type the following: systempropertiesadvanced
- Enter your Admin credentials
- Navigate to the first tab, Computer Name
- Select the bottom option, Change
- Enter the new computer name and select OK
- Restart the computer
