Password not syncing with Google account after it was changed

Issue

A user's password does not sync with their Google account after it was changed.

Environment

  • Gmail
  • SuperVault
  • Google Admin

Information

This could happen when accounts are not syncing caused by a mismatch between @email.grcc.edu and @grcc.edu addresses or if a password is set before the email entitlement is active.

Process

Google Admin

  1. Click Reporting > Audit and investigations > Admin log events
  2. Verify the password was not synced with Google through idmsync@email.grcc.edu. You can search by user name if needed.
    • If no password change is showing in the audit log, then navigate to SuperVault.
    • If password change is shown, it is likely user error.

SuperVault

  1. Look up user in SuperVault.
  2. Click Modify Object.
  3. Click Identity Manager tab.
  4. Click Entitlement Results.
  5. You will most likely see an error similar to this one:
  6. Click General tab.
  7. Click Other.
  8. Under Valued Attributes, double-click businessCategory.
  9. Select Staff Mailbox (or Student Mailbox) in the dropdown menu and click
  10. Click OK to close the Edit Attribute window.
  11. Click Apply at the bottom.
  12. Go to the user menu and click Modify Object again.
  13. Click Identity Manager and go to Entitlement Results.
    • You should now see Revoked and Successful messages.
  14. Verify that a change was made on the Staff Gmail Entitlement.
  15. Click General > Other > businessCategory and add Staff Mailbox (or Student Mailbox)
    • Verify that you see a granted and successful message in the Entitlement Results. You may see an error next to this driver, this is because the user is not entitled, make sure to verify the date and time is from when you applied the new business category.
  16. Click Apply
  17. The password will sync on the next sync process. You can verify this in the audit log in Google Admin.
