Accessing the ATC Open Lab through Omnissa (VMWare)

Information

The ATC Open Lab is available remotely to all students through Omnissa (VMWare). This lab pool allows for more robust tools to be run while off campus. Some more resource intensive software included are:
Autodesk Suite
Adobe Creative Cloud
Visual Studio 
SPSS Statistics
Matlab

 

Environment

  • mydesktop.grcc.edu (Omnissa (VMWare) Horizon HTML Client)
  • Omnissa (VMWare) Horizon Desktop Client
  • Windows
  • Mac OS
  • Android
  • iOS

 

Process

Access Via HTML Client

  • Open your preferred web browser
  • Navigate to mydesktop.grcc.edu
  • Click Omnissa (VMWare) Horizon HTML Access
  • Sign in with your MyGRCC username and password 
  • Click ATC Open Lab
  • You are now connected to the ATC Open Lab and may access your lab software

 

Access Via Desktop Client

Connecting to the ATC Open Lab (Windows)

  1. Click the Start Menu once the installation process has completed.
  2. Search for Omnissa (VMWare)
  3. Select the Omnissa (Omnissa (VMWare)) View Client menu option. This will launch the application.
  4. Click New Server.
  5. Verify that mydesktop.grcc.edu is in the Connection Server field.
  6. Click the Connect button.
  7. Enter your MyGRCC login  Information into the Username and Password fields.
  8. Click the Login button.
  9. Select the ATC Open Lab option. A new window will open and connect you to the virtual desktop.

 

Connecting to the ATC Open Lab (OS X)

  1. Open the Applications directory.
  2. Double-click on Omnissa (Omnissa (VMWare)) View Client.
  3. Verify that mydesktop.grcc.edu is in the Connection Server field.
  4. Click the Connect button.
  5. Enter your MyGRCC Login Information into the Username and Password fields.
  6. Click the Login button.
  7. Select the ATC Open Lab option. A new window will open and connect you to the virtual desktop.

 

Connecting to the ATC Open Lab (iOS)

  1. Download Omnissa (VMWare) Horizon from the App Store.
  2. Open the application and enter mydesktop.grcc.edu for the server.
  3. Connect to the newly created server using your MyGRCC Login information
  4. Tap the ATC Open Lab option

 

Connecting to the ATC Open Lab (Android)

  1. Download Omnissa (VMWare) Horizon from the Play Store.
  2. Open the application and enter mydesktop.grcc.edu for the server.
  3. Connect to the newly created server using your MyGRCC Login information
  4. Tap the ATC Open Lab option

 

Disconnecting from Remote Access

  1. When your work is completed and you wish to leave the remote desktop connection, click the Start menu.
  2. Select the Account button.
  3. Select the Sign out option
