Accessing The Student Virtual Labs through VMware

Information

The Student Virtual Lab is available to all students through Omnissa. This enables off-campus access to the following lab software programs:

  • SPSS Statistics - In ATC Lab Pool Only
  • Maple
  • MS Access
  • MS Publisher
  • MS Visio
  • QuickBooks - In Business Lab only
  • Acrobat DC

 

Environment

  • mydesktop.grcc.edu (Omnissa Horizon HTML Client)
  • Omnissa Horizon Desktop Client
  • Windows
  • Mac OS
  • Android
  • iOS

 

Process

Access Omnissa Environment

Via HTML Client

  1. Open your preferred web browser
  2. Navigate to mydesktop.grcc.edu
  3. Click Omnissa Horizon HTML Access
  4. Sign in with your MyGRCC username and passphrase (passwords)
  5. Click Student Virtual Lab or Student Business Lab
  6. You are now connected to the Student Virtual Lab or Student Business Lab and may access your lab software

 

Via Desktop Client

 

Connecting to the Student Virtual Lab

Using Windows

  1. Click the Start Menu once the installation process has completed.
  2. Search for Omnissa
  3. Select the Omnissa Horizon Client menu option. This will launch the application.
  4. Click New Server.
  5. Verify that mydesktop.grcc.edu is in the Connection Server field.
  6. Click the Connect button.
  7. Enter your MyGRCC Login Information into the Username and Password fields.
  8. Click the Login button.
  9. Select the Student Virtual Lab option. A new window will open and connect you to the virtual desktop.

 

Using Mac OSX

  1. Open the Applications directory.
  2. Double-click on Omnissa Horizon Client.
  3. Verify that mydesktop.grcc.edu is in the Connection Server field.
  4. Click the Connect button.
  5. Enter your MyGRCC Login Information into the Username and Password fields.
  6. Click the Login button.
  7. Select the Student Virtual Lab option. A new window will open and connect you to the virtual desktop.

 

Using iOS

  1. Download Omnissa Horizon from the App Store.
  2. Open the application and enter mydesktop.grcc.edu for the server.
  3. Connect to the newly created server using your MyGRCC Login information
  4. Tap the Student Virtual Lab option

 

Using an Android

  1. Download Omnissa Horizon from the Play Store.
  2. Open the application and enter mydesktop.grcc.edu for the server.
  3. Connect to the newly created server using your MyGRCC Login information
  4. Tap the Student Virtual Lab option

 

Disconnecting from Remote Access

  1. When your work is completed and you wish to leave the remote desktop connection, click the Start menu.
  2. Select the Account button.
  3. Select the Sign out option
