Changing Your Display Name in Google

Issue

I changed my Campus Network Username with IT, but my Google account still shows my old name. I want to keep my username the way it is, but would like to use a different Display Name.

If your official name has changed in Google, it may not automatically update your "Display Name." Your display name is a customizable setting that appears to others in applications like Google Chat and Gmail.

Resolution

  1. Sign into Google using your GRCC credentials.
  2. Navigate to your Google About Me page.
  3. Select the Name section.
  4. Click the Edit icon (pencil) or the arrow (>) next to your name.
  5. Enter your preferred First Name and Last Name.
  6. Click Save to apply the changes.
