The Associate Director of Institutional Research (IR) supports the day-to-day operations of institutional research activities and data requests; manages the development of data visualization dashboards; provides conceptualized interpretive analysis of quantitative/qualitative findings; develops analytical strategies for new data sets; and prepares reports in support of institutional research, student success, and institutional effectiveness. This role will drive impactful change through data-informed projects, optimizing systems of support and prioritizing improved student outcomes. Through a collaborative framework and employing continuous quality improvement (CQI) methodologies, this role supports IR to guide strategic project selection, implementation, and evaluation, leveraging campus technology and data systems for insights and optimization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist the Director of Institutional Research and College Data Officer in overall management and planning for the office, including the development of Department Action Plans.
- Represent the Director of Institutional Research and College Data Officer in their absence.
- Serve as the application administrator for the GRCC student success management system (currently, EAB Navigate), ensuring its effective utilization within the division and across the college.
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic projects, providing guidance to leadership to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and student success goals.
- Champion the CQI model for projects, utilizing data analysis to inform decision-making and refine effectiveness.
- Represent institutional research as a consultant for project selection, prioritization, and approval, aligned with departmental and institutional goals.
- Manage the IR department’s data and research request technology to ensure timely resolution.
- Manage data visualization work to support student success assessment efforts and data-informed decision making.
- Use analytical perspective and creative storytelling to enhance our institution’s understanding of our own data in context in order to provide clear and actionable insights.
- Provide training, support, and guidance in developing evaluation plans for strategic initiatives supporting the GRCC strategic plan.
- Oversee evaluation plan implementation, monitor progress, and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure successful outcomes of strategic initiatives.
- Promote data-informed decision-making by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to project impact and intended student outcomes.
- Generate comprehensive reports that document project activities, outcomes, and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay current with best practices in student service assessments, continuous improvement methodologies, and data-informed decision-making.
- Represent IR on college-wide committees and teams to support and strengthen institutional engagement with data and information related to student engagement, retention, and completion efforts.
- Collaborate on departmental and institutional initiatives related to data governance, ensuring the implementation of best practices, policies, security, and compliance across all systems and processes.
- Serve as a representative of Institutional Research on college-wide teams and committees as appropriate, contributing data-informed insights and expertise to support impactful decision-making and policy development.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently, meet project deadlines, allocate resources appropriately, and manage communication with stakeholders with minimal supervision.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative and collaborative working relationships with individuals in the Institutional Research department, college, community, and agency partners.
- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, information systems, computer science, education, social or behavioral science or related field required.
- Masters Degree preferred.
- National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred.
Work Experience
- At least three years of experience in data and reporting work required. Experience in a higher education setting is highly preferred.
- Work experience must show the gathering and merging of data from various sources; tabulating or classifying data into prescribed formats, forms, or reports; and use of computers to retrieve, tabulate, and report.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications for data reporting.
- Experience with visualization software required.
- Experience using student information systems is preferred.
