This position is responsible for the implementation and ongoing development of www.grcc.edu, and day-to-day site maintenance and operational support of the production, testing, and development web servers. The primary responsibility for this position is the website's Content Management System (CMS), which includes implementation and maintenance of the core CMS system, development and installation of modules for additional functionality, and design of site and content templates. 

Additional responsibilities include website policy development, documentation and review of best practices and web standards, and working with users on additional feature development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with consultants and vendors on contracted implementation, maintenance and new feature development, ensuring deliverables are met on deadline

  • Provide timely customer service to the campus community through the TeamDynamix ticketing system

  • Responsible for troubleshooting issues with web server, content management system, and templates, and running upgrades or migrations as needed

  • Review federal accessibility requirements and industry best practices, and implement any updates to ensure compliance with regulations

  • Assist the director with long-term planning for website development and expansion, coordinated with the goals of the institution

  • Develop style sheets and templates to ensure consistency of web site presentation

  • Develop, maintain, and document web site architecture

  • Implement website search engine and perform ongoing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on content and templates to improve external web search results

  • Maintain Content Management System (CMS)

  • Research and apply standards in search engine optimization and Google Analytics to ensure development and design supports the most current practices in user experience

  • Continuous process improvement and maintenance of file browsers and data libraries

  • Collaborate with website users and departments on content and initiate solutions with feature development that supports the goals of the institution

  • Work with technology infrastructure specialists to review system configuration and optimize performance

  • Initiate website maintenance plan, and publish update and maintenance schedule

  • Work with the director on any communication plans that may be necessitated by web updates and maintenance

  • Research and implement new standards, technologies and trends in Web site development, design, and delivery

  • Work with other departments and programs to ensure institutional website policy requirements are met

  • Recommend new software and infrastructure purchases

  • Assist on an as-needed basis with content development, updates, and maintenance in conjunction with Content Specialists

  • Train new users in the CMS, with an emphasis on accessibility requirements and brand standards

  • Create a process to archive website content and maintain archive repository

  • Analyze analytics data on website traffic and visitor profiles

  • Review feedback from content creators and collaborate on development projects

  • Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required.  Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

  • 4 year college degree in web design or related major

Work Experience

  • 5 years of work experience in web development and content management

  • 2 years of work experience with the Drupal open source CMS

  • Advanced HTML programming experience

  • Advanced CSS development experience

  • Familiarity in LAMP stack (Linux administration, Apache configuration, MySQL database, and PHP web development)

  • Experience with client side scripting (JavaScript, JQuery)

  • Extensive familiarity with Content Management Systems and conventions
