The Coordinator for Facility and Event Operations oversees the afternoon, evening, and closing operations of the Ford Fieldhouse. This position provides supervision over the student staff and contingency staff for the department. This position shares responsibility for event management in the Fieldhouse.. This position also manages the concession stand operation for the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in creating a safe, secure, functional, and inclusive environment within the Ford Fieldhouse for students, faculty, staff, and members of the community

  • Responsible for the closure of the facility

  • Serve as a back-up to the morning supervisor or the Coordinator in the Applied Technology Center

  • Prepare the various areas of the Ford Fieldhouse for their scheduled use based on the daily schedule

  • Monitor and control the activity where the equipment issue area is ensuring equipment is available, in working condition, and returned upon each use

  • Recommends when new equipment or replacement of equipment is needed

  • Assist with the enforcement of all Ford Fieldhouse policies and procedures 

  • Provide support to all members of the facility to ensure a positive customer experience

  • Assist with the planning and oversight of all events in the facility

  • Oversee Ford Fieldhouse student staff members as it relates to hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, evaluating, and record keeping

  • Oversee Ford Fieldhouse contingency staff members as it relates to hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, evaluating, and record keeping

  • Responsible for approving timesheets related to the student staff and contingency staff members

  • Assist with laundry services for the athletic department and for the facility

  • Work collaboratively with other college departments to ensure effective facility management

  • Oversees all operations of the concession stand

  • Responsible for all food storage and preparation according to health standards and regulations

  • Order and manage all concession stand inventory along with pricing of inventory

  • Clean and service all concession stand equipment properly

  • Responsible for hiring and staffing appropriately depending on what event is taking place

  • Oversee the cash handling process within the concession stand and assists with deposits of revenue 

  • Maintain the state of Michigan food license from Kent County Health Department

  • Facilitate yearly Kent County Health Department inspections

  • Act as a supporting member of the Crisis Management Team in the event of an emergency

  • Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSA’s will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act

  • Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, emphasis in facility management, event management, athletic administration or related field

  • Master’s Degree preferred

  • Must have or be willing to earn an American Red Cross CPR & AED certification and maintain

  • Must have or be willing to earn the Serv-Safe Certification and maintain

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of facility or event operations experience in a multi use facility environment

  • Supervisory experience is preferred

  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and complete tasks independently and in a timely manner

  • Must be able to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain composure

  • Must be proficient in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication to work effectively with diverse populations

  • Ability to learn and execute various tasks using internal and external softwares

  • Ability to to perform daily routine and unexpected duties with minimal supervision
