The Executive Director of the Lakeshore Campus is responsible for leading the operations of GRCC’s Lakeshore Campus, and working with the Provost and Deans to support programs and courses at the Lakeshore Campus. The Executive Director will create and sustain a working environment on the Lakeshore Campus that demonstrates a spirit of collaboration, innovation, access, and inclusion. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of and experience with the critical role community colleges play in the fabric of a community. The Executive Director will work in cooperation with the Provost and Deans to sustain programs relevant to students and the Lakeshore community. To successfully achieve these results the Executive Director will need to cultivate effective and mutually beneficial partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide operational leadership, support, and supervision for the Lakeshore Campus

  • Collaborate with leadership across the College to recommend and develop short and long-term goals for the Lakeshore Campus, including working in close partnership with the Provost and Deans to recommend the development and implementation of programs, course offerings, and enrollment targets

  • Develop partnerships within the Lakeshore community

  • Facilitate regular meetings of the Lakeshore Advisory Council in collaboration with the Provost and Deans

  • Actively participate and engage within the Lakeshore community

  • Serve as a GRCC representative within and for the Lakeshore community

  • Advocate to the College leadership for the needs of the Lakeshore Campus

  • Provide regular updates to the Provost regarding the activities of and opportunities for the Lakeshore Campus

  • Responsible for tracking & monitoring enrollment at the Lakeshore Campus 

  • Advance the development of equity-centered best practices to provide access and success on the Lakeshore Campus

  • Advocate for staff and programs on the Lakeshore Campus

  • Identify new streams of revenue potential for the Lakeshore Campus

  • Ensure alignment of the Lakeshore Campus to the Provost’s vision, the College’s Strategic Plan and mission of the College

  • Support, hire, supervise, and evaluate professional support staff assigned to the Lakeshore Campus. Convene regular meetings, establish work expectations, and complete annual performance evaluations  

  • Set standards for hiring new staff and regularly review the hiring processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness

  • Allocate resources and other systemic supports to promote professional development for staff  

  • Participate in College-wide planning as appropriate, including but not limited to planning related to the strategic plan, budget development, emergency response, and facility master planning  

  • Actively participate in and retain membership in such statewide and national organizations and activities as are appropriate for the maintenance and improvement of programs

  • Monitor legislative activity and best practices for student success 

  • Participate and provide feedback in Lakeshore recruitment and marketing initiatives as requested 

  • Participates in collective bargaining teams, as needed and assigned by the President

  • This role is a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act

  • Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an academic discipline offered by the College, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field is required

Work Experience

  • Minimum of three years prior experience in a role responsible for oversight of educational programming or services or of an educational center is required

  • Demonstrated leadership is required

  • Supervisory experience of staff is required

  • Experience working in a community college is preferred 

  • Demonstrated experience with developing and moving forward initiatives that advance equity, access, and inclusion  

  • Demonstrated successful leadership of complex, collaborative initiatives

  • Demonstrated successful advocacy for students and students’ needs

Skills

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of the significance of cultural competency and an understanding and appreciation for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, complex tasks according to required deadlines, and maintain composure under high stress conditions
