The Human Resource Coordinator of Adjunct Faculty & Contingency Employees is accountable for the continual evaluation of processes, procedures and ensuring continuity and the successful delivery of employment services for the Contingency (temporary), Adjunct Faculty and Independent Contractor workforce at Grand Rapids Community College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serves as liaison to GRCC departments and as the primary contact on requests related to contingency employment including independent contractors, and adjunct faculty

Administer all employment processes for contingency employees, adjunct faculty, and independent contractors across campus

Manage the contingency position authorization process and regularly evaluate the hiring process to align with the ongoing quality initiatives of the College. Administer compensation and pay rate studies for contingency employment. Make recommendations for competitive wage rates for new placements

Maintain knowledge of legal requirements affecting the contingency and independent contractor workforce and report on areas of liability. Ensure that Independent Contractors assignments meet the IRS 20 factor test and are properly classified

Provide guidance and respond to inquiries related to contingency employees, budgets, policy and procedures

Serve as a point of contact for adjunct faculty and contingency employees, addressing their questions and concerns

Establishes and administers systems to efficiently promote pre-screening of applications by academic administrators and department heads

Provides initial orientation to adjunct employees regarding wage and benefits

Leads and coordinates adjunct events with academic administration (on-boarding event & adjunct recruitment event)

Develop and update work instructions to support all processes

Participate in department and/or college planning to continually improve the Human Resources service support systems using appropriate planning methods, data collection and employment engagement processes

Perform independent audits for HR records

Data entry into the HR system as needed

Participate in professional development activities to remain current in HR Trends

Carries out a variety of special projects as needed

This role is a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act.

Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position
