The Associate Director of Student Employment Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, which includes both the on campus and off campus employment programs. This position directly supervises 2 full time and 1 part time staff and serves as the Budget Control Officer for this department. This position will establish department goals, lead in developing new services and initiatives, and collaborate with other GRCC departments to create academic department specific employment related activities/programs. In addition, this position will resolve any student employment disciplinary or criminal background check issues that arise.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Directly supervise the Coordinator of Student Employment Services, Student Employment Assistant, and ESP; indirectly provide daily leadership for operations as needed. Operational staff include: Two full-time staff,1 part time employment assistant and three Student Employees

Establish departmental goals, objectives, action plans and performance measurement reporting
-
Report departmental activities to Executive Director on a weekly basis

Resolve student employee complaints, disciplinary issues, etc. as they arise. Work with other GRCC staff (Director of Student Life & Conduct, General Counsel, etc.) as required

Develop and implement new services and initiatives
-
Collaborate and participate with other departments and college action projects as needed to ensure college objectives are met

Coordinate departmental meetings and activities
-
Participate in college wide communication meetings as needed
-
Assist students and alumni with individual employment needs
-
Serve on college committees, teams, and community projects as appropriate and requested

Collaborate with other GRCC departments to coordinate academic department specific employment activities/programs

Administer and monitor department budget as Budget Control Officer

Establish, promote and maintain relationships with area employers

Meet with students one on one to critique resumes/cover letters and refine interviewing skills

Promote and coordinate training opportunities for Student Employment Services staff

Communicate with Chief of Campus Police and supervisors regarding criminal background check information. Resolve conflicts or problems that arise

Develop, implement, and communicate personnel policies and procedures regarding on campus student employment

Develop, coordinate and conduct other Student Employment Services training opportunities as needed through Staff Development

Assist with employment related classroom seminars

Interview and refer student applicants for on and off campus employment as needed

Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSA's will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act

Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

Work Experience

Five years minimum experienced required within: Higher education, employment services or human resources

Successful experience working with diverse populations

Experience with Microsoft Office, the Internet, and working experience with PeopleSoft or similar database
