The Support Professional, Circulation Specialist, for Student Learning Resources manages all Circulation operations and leads related financial accountability for library-related collections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage, supervise and provide leadership, planning and guidance for daily operations of Circulation Services including the Circulation Desk, Reserves Collection, Fines and Fees, Audiovisual Collection, and Stack Maintenance.
- Manage Student Assistant Funding and Budget. Provide cost-effective planning and efficiency utilizing student work study funding, non-work study funding, and retirement costs for all library student employment. Using library usage statistics and the Academic Calendar, develop formulas to balance the student budget of $53,000. Maintain strong relationships with Student Employment Office in relaying our financial needs.
- Reconcile and balance all daily deposits in cash, checks, credit cards and raider card transactions. Process deposits for Cashier’s Office and Accounting. Reconcile petty cash.
- Supervise student staff including hiring, training, coordinating, scheduling, evaluating, and disciplining across all library departments.
- Coordinate accounting records and determine lost fees for overdue materials, fines, and replacement costs for lost items.
- Manage and resolve customer service concerns and complaints and respond to patron questions, email, and phone calls.
- Interpret, revise and enforce all Circulation Services policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and supervise opening of Library.
- Assist with the management and supervision of the Laptop and Technology Checkout Program.
- Document, report and verify all payroll time for student staff and for additional pay for all library faculty.
- Configure Integrated Library Computer System to include hours of operation, loan rules, loan rule parameters, and text notices. Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders in insuring proper services.
- Lead and partipate in projects that involve the Integrated Library System.
- Maintain hourly statistics for library usage and reset database YTD counters.
- Place negative service indicators on PeopleSoft when students have overdue materials. Manage paid fines and remove academic holds daily.
- Troubleshoot basic technology problems and provide preliminary support for TV/DVD/VCRs, copy machines, printers, public access computers, fax machines, Internet services, and online databases, as well as microfiche/microfilm readers and printers. Provide appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Approve or Decline Student Assistant time sheets for payroll every two weeks/biweekly.
- Oversee the automated courtesy and overdue notices.
- Notify GRCC faculty and staff and students when requested items are processed and ready for use.
- Create and update brief bibliographic records for reserve materials according to established parameters using MARC format.
- Inventory Reserve Reading materials annually.
- Communicate with Student Employment Services (SES) and follow appropriate steps for job posting, interviewing, hiring, scheduling, referrals and evaluating student assistants.
- Act as liaison between SES and student assistants interpreting administrative/college policies and procedures, the Student Employee Handbook and payroll to them.
- Act as liaison to Media Technologies Department in tracking use of their equipment, keeping statistics and sending overdue notices. Create process for using Integrated Library System for their equipment.
- Serve as Liaison to Lakeshore Campus in regards to reserve textbooks and technology.
- Partner with vendors to ensure reliable library technical Circulation hardware.
- Review Hours and services before each semester and communicate with stakeholders
- Prepare monthly statistical reports on circulation.
- Support the GRCC and LLC student-centered mission, vision, values, and ends.
- Participate in LLC strategic planning, policy development, customer service assessment, and department organization discussions.
- Periodically purge obsolete ILS database records.
- Update LLC Student Assistant Manual and other written documentation.
- Attend department, team, and appropriate college meetings
- Inform patrons of library policies when necessary.
- Circulate library materials to patrons.
- Assist patrons and staff in locating materials in reference, circulating collection, reserves, and audio-visual areas of the library. Check shelves for lost, missing, overdue books and audiovisual materials.
- Register new patrons and update existing records.
- Close and secure the facility according to established schedules. Turn off equipment in accordance with campus energy management guidelines.
- Document Opening and Closing procedures for the facility.
- Contribute to the information content of the Library and Learning Commons’ Web site.
- Cultivate an awareness of and proficiency with new technologies.
- Receive all book and audiovisual donations and process according to the Gift Materials Policy.
- As a member of the Access Services Team, manage Periodicals and Interlibrary Loan services in the absence of the area Specialist.
- Prepare fliers, bookmarks, service signage, and brochures.
- Assist with the collection inventory process as needed.
- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.

Educational Credentials
- Associate's degree or comparable combination of relevant education and experience
