Under general direction, this position coordinates activities related to building enrollment at the College; acts as the College advocate and representative. Participation in outreach and recruitment endeavors is integral in this role, as is cultivating positive relationships with High School counselors, community partners and prospective students. As international admission advisor, the key focus is to remain informed of federal and governmental regulations and guide and support prospective and current students through the international admissions process and encourage adequate maintenance of immigration (visa) status.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide leadership in establishing, organizing, and supporting recruitment and outreach activities on and off campus. Assist the Executive Director of Enrollment Services in developing, planning, and implementing recruitment and outreach initiatives and programs for prospective students.
- Provide representation on behalf of the College at recruitment, outreach, and community engagements. Distribute informational materials and respond to inquiries at on and off site recruitment and outreach programs.
- Actively recruit students at assigned high schools and recruitment events such as high School visits, college fairs, college information nights and panels, etc. Maintain/develop relationships with high school counselors and administrators, business, community organizations and potential partners in our community. Coordinate and contribute to the success of various student programming designed to recruit prospective applicants to the College.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Admissions office’s recruitment and marketing plan with the purpose of promoting the College’s visibility and general recruitment efforts.
- Utilize Customer Relation Management (CRM) software to manage prospective student and applicant communication and outreach plans, as well as case management efforts to improve recruitment and enrollment. Assist with the monitoring of CRM data to develop and implement new strategies, communication plans, and uses to increase student leads, yield rates, and enrollment.
- Serve as Admissions and Enrollment Specialist for prospective students with inquiries about the admissions and enrollment process. Follow up with electronic inquiries regarding the admissions and enrollment experience at GRCC. Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the College.
- Actively participate in development of print materials for outreach and recruitment – i.e. brochures, viewbooks, handouts, postcards, etc.
- Represent GRCC as a member of the Grand Rapids Higher Education Network (GRAHEN) and participate in GRAHEN college fairs and educational programs. Serve as main contact for annual GRAHEN Outstanding Adult Learner award process.
- Supervise and manage the support staff (part time admissions assistants and student employees).
- Serve as International Admissions Advisor (Primary Designated School Official – PDSO) and contact for prospective and current international students [on F-1 visas].
- Respond to prospective international student inquiries via email, phone, and in person.
- Receive, track, review, and process new international student admissions applications and supporting documentation, as well as issue the I-20 government document via the SEVIS system.
- Remain familiarized and trained with federal regulations regarding hosting F-1 students. Attend yearly conferences and trainings related to managing this student population.
- Assist new international students with admissions and enrollment process. Facilitate initial meetings, and organize and deliver mandatory new intl. student orientation each Fall & Winter semester.
- Monitor enrollment activity, academic performance and compliance/adherence to regulations and requirements throughout duration of study for each F-1 student.
- Lead International Student Task Force team to discuss strategies for addressing issues and challenges the GRCC international student population faces as well as developing interventions to support and foster their success.
- Collaborate with Veterans Services to implement communications and outreach to military veteran students.

- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Work Experience
- Two or more years’ experience working in admissions, student services, or a related field.
- Experience with International Student admission and advising preferred.
- Experience with SEVIS, F1 Visa and international students.
- Candidate must have a high level of experience using and developing technology.
- PeopleSoft student information system experience preferred.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable with public speaking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and a Windows environment.
- Planning and implementation of events and programs.
- Excellent formal presentation skills for small and large groups while presenting a strong professional presence.
Physical Demands
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle for extensive recruitment travel.
- Must be able to carry at least 25-30 pounds of recruitment material.
- Must have reliable transportation to drive to various locations in the West Michigan area.
- Mix of seated office work and active off campus engagements (driving, standing at information tables for 2-3 hours, etc).
