Information

Effective June 2024, PeopleSoft has introduced an updated method for enabling ADA accessibility features, specifically Screen Reader Mode. This mode optimizes the interface for users navigating with assistive technology.

Environment

  • PeopleSoft (CS, HR, FS, and the Online Center)

Process

Accessing Screen Reader Mode

An accessibility icon (the universal access symbol) is available on every page. Its location depends on your device:

  • Computer or Tablet: Located in the top header toolbar.
  • Mobile Phone: Located in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

Enable Screen Reader Mode

When you click the accessibility icon, a confirmation window will appear:

  • Select "No": To activate screen reader mode for your current session only.
  • Select "Yes": To persist this setting, keeping screen reader mode active for all future logins on that device.

Disable Screen Reader Mode

If you have persisted the setting and wish to turn it off, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Action Menu icon (the vertical ellipsis/three dots).
  2. Select My Preferences.
  3. Open General Settings.
  4. Under Accessibility Layout, select Screen reader mode off.
  5. Click Save.
