Issue
The webcam is not recognized or visible when using the Respondus LockDown Browser application.
Environment
- Windows 10
- Lenovo T460s and Lenovo T560s
- Respondus LockDown Browser
Information
Users may encounter an error where the webcam fails to initialize on loaner laptops while using LockDown Browser. This often appears as a blank preview or a "Camera not found" message.

Note: You may need Administrative privileges to perform the steps in the resolution section.
Resolution
- Open Device Manager (Type "Device Manager" in the Windows search bar).
- Locate Cameras. It may also be listed under Imaging Devices.
- Click the arrow to expand the section.
- Right-click on the integrated camera device.
- Select Uninstall device. (Do not check the box to delete driver software if prompted).
- Right-click on your computer name at the very top of the list in Device Manager.
- Select Scan for hardware changes.
- Wait for the camera to reappear in the list.
- Restart Respondus LockDown Browser to verify functionality.
