Does Zoom Phone have any SPAM call detection?

Question

Does Zoom Phone have any SPAM call detection?

Environment

  • Zoom Phone

Answer

Yes.

Zoom classifies calls with one of three tags when possible: Verified, Maybe Spam, or Spam.  Zoom, like most other providers may not classify a call if it passed through an analog phone line or an international call provider.

There are several options to deal with SPAM calls.  These options only apply to individuals and are not intended for shared lines or phone queues.

Block Numbers Individually Available, but not typically effective since spammers often rotate phone numbers when calling.
Requiring Human Interaction Requires callers to press a digit before being connected.  Recommended only if you deal mostly with internal customers or have external contacts added to your contact list.  This feature is not compatible with Zoom Fax.
Block external calls Not recommended.  Internal callers may try to reach you via cell phone.  Blocked calls are not sent to voicemail and just tell the caller you are not available.
Block calls with no caller ID Not recommended.  There are any number of reasons caller ID may not appear when someone calls you.
Request a new number You should only request a new phone number if the above list has been exhausted (failed or not available due to job function).  With department head approval, we will assign you a new phone number.
