Wired computer mouse not working

Issue

Computer mouse is not working.

Environment

  • Faculty/Staff Workstation
  • Lab Workstation

Resolution

Checking the Mouse Sensor Light

If the light is on:

  • Unplug the mouse for a few seconds, then plug it back in.
  • If that does not work, plug it into a different USB port.
  • Reboot the computer.

If the light is off:

  • Ensure that the mouse is securely plugged into the computer.
  • Unplug the mouse for a few seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Try a different USB port.
  • Reboot the computer.
