Issue
When attempting to save a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat or Reader, a blank gray screen appears instead of the file explorer window, preventing the file from being saved.
Environment
- Adobe Acrobat DC
- Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
Information
This issue typically occurs when Adobe's internal "cloud" save dialog fails to render correctly. Enabling specific storage settings forces Adobe to reset its saving behavior and correctly display the save prompt.
Resolution
- In the top-left corner, click the Menu (represented by three horizontal lines
).
- Navigate to Preferences... (Shortcut: Ctrl + K).
- From the Categories list on the left side of the window, select General.
- Find and ensure the checkbox for Show online storage when saving files is checked.
- Note: If it is already checked, uncheck it, click OK, then return and re-check it to reset the preference.
- Click OK at the bottom of the window to save your changes.
- Attempt to save your document again; the standard save dialog window should now appear.
Tip: If the blank screen persists, you can also try unchecking "Show online storage when opening files" to further simplify the interface and bypass cloud-related loading issues.
