Playing a DVD from a Multimedia Station

Question

How do I play a DVD from a multimedia station inside of a classroom?

There are two ways to play a DVD: from the computer or from the DVD player located in the multimedia rack.

Resolution

Option 1: From the DVD player

  1. Power on the DVD player from the podium or rack.
  2. Press the Display ON button on the control panel for the podium or rack.
  3. Press the DVD button on the control panel.
  4. Use the DVD remote to navigate, play, and pause.
    • The remote is typically located in the rack drawer.

Option 2: From the computer

  1. Power on the computer from the podium or rack.
  2. Press the Display ON button on the control panel for the podium or rack.
  3. Press the PC button on the control panel.
  4. Insert the DVD into the computer disc drive slot.
    • The disc tray will have an eject button (marked with the symbol) on or near it.
  5. The DVD should begin playback automatically using VLC Media Player.

Troubleshooting Manual Playback

  • If prompted to choose an action for the disc, select Play Using VLC.
  • If playback does not start automatically:
    1. Open the VLC Media Player application from the desktop.
    2. Select Media from the top menu.
    3. Select Open Disc...
    4. Choose your DVD from the drop-down menu labeled Disc Device.
