How do I enable Copyleaks plagiarism and AI detection on a Canvas assignment?

Information

Copyleaks scans student assignment submissions for both plagiarized content and AI-generated text.

 

Answer

  1. Open your Canvas course and go to Assignments.
  2. Click + Assignment (or edit an existing assignment).
  3. Scroll down to Submission Type and make sure Online is selected.
  4. Check Text Entry and/or File Uploads.
  5. In the Plagiarism Review box, select Copyleaks Plagiarism Checker from the dropdown menu.
  6. Adjust your Copyleaks settings as needed (ensure Plagiarism and AI Detection are enabled).
  7. Click Save & Publish.

Additional Information

AI detectors are not 100% accurate and can generate false positives or false negatives. If a submission is flagged or AI use is suspect, consider having a conversation with the student to have them explain their drafting process and sources.
