FactoryTalk Directory Configuration for Studio 5000

Information

In order to be able to successfully use the FactoryTalk Suite, the FactoryTalk Directory Configuration Wizard needs to be run first. Otherwise, you may receive the message “This product has not been successfully activated” along with a “Log On to FactoryTalk - Network” pop up.

Environment

  • Rockwell FactoryTalk Directory Configuration Wizard
  • Studio 5000

Process

  1. Open FactoryTalk Directory Configuration Wizard as admin.
    • Provide admin credentials.
  2. Under Configure Settings, check both Configure the FactoryTalk Network Directory and Configure the FactoryTalk Local Directory.
  3. Click Next.
  4. In the Reconfigure FactoryTalk Network Directory screen, provide admin credentials.
  5. Click Next.
  6. In the Reconfigure FactoryTalk Local Directory screen, provide admin credentials.
  7. Click Next.
  8. If successful, a Summary report should appear and confirm that both processes were successful.

To verify that the configuration process worked, create a test file/project in Studio 5000.

  1. Open Studio 5000.
  2. Click New Project.
  3. Click Logix (left-hand side).
  4. Select any project from the right-hand side and name it "test" or similar.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. If the configuration was successful, Logix Designer should open with a blue bar on the bottom of the window.
    • If the configuration failed, a FactoryTalk login screen prompting credentials will appear.
