Question
How do I create a fillable PDF?
Environment
Answer
- Open your file: Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Note: Adobe licensing requires you to sign in. Use your GRCC credentials or your Adobe ID if prompted.
- Access Tools: If the tools panel is not visible on the left side of the screen, click All tools to expand the navigation panel.
- Select Prepare a Form: Locate and click Prepare a form.
- Tip: If you don't see it, click View more or use the search bar at the top to search for "Prepare Form".
- Initialize the Form: Click Create form (or Start).
- Adobe will automatically scan your document and place text fields where it detects blank lines or boxes.
- Note: You may see placeholder data initially; this will disappear once you click Preview.
- Review and Edit: Carefully review the document to ensure all necessary fields were captured.
Manual Adjustments
- To add a text box: In the Add Form Components (or Design) section, select the Text field icon (a box containing a "T" and a cursor). Click on the document where you want the field and drag the corners to resize it.
- To remove a field: Click on the unwanted text box to select it and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
