How do I connect to the GRCC Secure wireless network on a mobile device?

- Mobile Devices (Android, iOS, Chromebooks)
Resolution
Note: Settings may vary slightly depending on your device model and software version. If these steps do not work, please contact the IT Support Desk at (616) 234-4357 for assistance.
Standard Connection Steps
- Open your device's Settings and navigate to Wi-Fi.
- From the list of available networks, select GRCC Secure.
- If prompted for specific configuration details, use the following:
- EAP Method: TTLS
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA Certificate: Use System Certificates
- In the Identity or Username field, enter your MyGRCC Username (e.g., janesmith).
- Leave the Anonymous Identity field blank.
- Enter your MyGRCC Password.
- Under Advanced or Privacy settings, change the MAC address setting to Use device MAC (instead of Random MAC).
- Click Connect.
Specific Steps for Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy (S21+), and Chromebooks
Modern Android devices and Chromebooks require additional security fields to be filled out manually:
- Follow steps 1 and 2 from the section above.
- When the configuration window appears, enter these exact settings:
- EAP Method: TTLS (or EAP-TTLS)
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA Certificate: Use System Certificates
- Online Certificate Status: Do not verify
- Domain: grcc.edu
- Identity: Your MyGRCC Username
- Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
- Password: Your MyGRCC Password
- Privacy: Use device MAC
- Click Connect.
Privacy Tip: Selecting "Use device MAC" is often necessary for campus networks to maintain a stable connection. If you use "Randomized MAC," your device may frequently disconnect or require re-authentication.
