Changing Power Options for a Laptop in a Closed State

Users can request that power options be modified so a laptop may be used with external monitors while in a closed state

Issue

When closing the lid of a laptop the monitors shut off.

Resolution

Users can view their power options by following the below steps.

1. Access Control Panel
   • Click by Start Menu and type Control Panel
2. Click Hardware and Sound
3. Click Power Options
4. On the left hand side click Choose what closing the lid does
5. Change the option in the When I close Lid row and Plugged In column to do nothing
