Troubleshooting macOS Papercut Paused Printing

A MacOS computer is getting the Papercut Paused Printing error message. 

 

Environment

  • MacOS
  • GRCC Managed Devices

 

Process

MacOS versions needs to be 12.4, if running an older version, updates are required.

Scenario 1

  1. Connect to network.
  2. Launch PCClient.app
  3. Send test print job to verify Papercut client hands job off to printer. 

Scenario 2

  1. Connect to network.
  2. Launch PCClient.app
  3. Send test print job
  4. An authentication prompt may come up. Have user authenticate with MyGRCC credentials
    • MacOS Login Authentication
  5. Select the save to keychain checkbox to prevent from having to type credentials in again in the future
  6. Verify print job has been released to printer

Scenario 3

  1. Connect to network
  2. Open Terminal
  3. Enter following command:
    • dsconfigad -show
      • If the return is nothing, then do the next command.
  4. Enter following command:
    • sudo dsconfigad -add in.grcc.edu -force -user %TechAdminUsername%​​​​​​
  5. Enter Administrator Password
  6. Enter Tech password
  7. Enter following command:
    • dsconfigad -show
      • If the return shows information about Active Directory, then your good. 
  8. Test printing!
