Google does not offer a native mail client. It is recommended to use the web based applications, as there are features that you will miss out on having if not using it.
A desktop shortcut can be created to launch the web based application more readily.
Answer
Information Technology is providing Outlook applications to Faculty and Staff upon request. This will be made available for installation through the software center.
