What is FutureTech Careers?

Program Overview

The FutureTech Careers Program at GRCC supports students who are interested in gaining real-world experience and technical skills in Information Technology areas (such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Support Specialists, Cybersecurity, and many more) as well as Automation, Manufacturing, and others. The program is designed to enhance career readiness through structured activities, career preparedness courses, internships/job shadowing opportunities, and mentorship. These experiences help students build a professional network and develop career-relevant competencies. Participation in FutureTech also includes access to Success Coaches, who provide one-on-one academic and career planning support.

Eligibility and Approved Academic Pathways

To participate in FutureTech Careers, students must be currently enrolled at Grand Rapids Community College, with a focus on a technology related field. Qualifying programs include:

GRCC Information Technology: Computer Information Systems Pathway Degree (A.A.), Computer Programming Associate Degree, Computer Support Specialist Associate Degree, Web/UX Design and Development Associate Degree, Network Administration Associate Degree, Pre-Computer Information Systems (General Transfer), Computer Science Pre-Major, Cybersecurity Certificate, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Certificate, Data Science Certificate

GRCC Advanced Manufacturing: Manufacturing & Applied Technology Pathway Degree (A.A.), Electrical Controls Engineering Technology (A.A.A.S.), Electronics Engineering Technology (A.A.A.S.), Industrial Maintenance Technology (A.A.A.S.), Mechatronics - Basic Industrial Electricity Certificate, Electronics Engineering Technology Certificate, Integration Automation Certificate, Electrical Controls/Mechatronics Certificate, Industrial Maintenance Certificate, Automation Certificate

GRCC Job Training: Computer Support Technician Program

Other Qualified Students: Students who have completed or are enrolled in at least one of the following courses: CIS 132, 232, 265, 266, 178, 278, or 269

Students who are not in one of these programs should contact a Success Coach to determine whether they may still be eligible to participate.
