Getting Introduced to GRCC and FutureTech

As participants begin their involvement with FutureTech, they will be introduced to several tools, resources, and expectations.

This introduction may happen through conversations with FTC staff, shared resources from GRCC, or guided walkthroughs (either via in person or documentation) of systems used.

 

Systems and Tools

Participants will be shown how to access and use:

  • GRCC account for email setup and campus resources
    • Setup instructions provided via email after acceptance into GRCC
  • Canvas for accessing Class and Program information, resources, and event details
  • FutureTech-specific pages or materials within Canvas
  • Shared links, resources, or event information provided by staff

 

Understanding Expectations Early

Participants will also be introduced to expectations that will support their success, including:

  • Regularly checking email and Canvas for updates
  • Responding to communication from program staff
  • Staying engaged with events and available opportunities
  • Asking questions when something is unclear

Developing these habits early can make it easier to stay on track.

Community partners can support participants by:

  • Directing participants to appropriate GRCC staff for additional support

 

Getting Comfortable with the Process

Participants do not need to know everything right away. Becoming familiar with systems and expectations over time is part of the process. Staying engaged and asking questions will help build confidence and ensure a smoother start.
