Once you've been enrolled in FutureTech Careers, your next steps are guided by a team member—either a GRCC staff member like a career coach, or someone at a participating community partner organization. This process ensures that you're supported through each stage of training or education planning, starting before you're entered into the Launchpad system.
1. You'll Be Contacted by a FutureTech Career Coach
After you're identified as a FutureTech participant, a career coach (typically Kim Tucker or Linus Kaechele) will reach out to you. Their job is to understand your goals, determine program eligibility, and help you select a path that aligns with your interests and circumstances.
2. You'll Discuss Your Program and Create a Plan
Together with your coach, you’ll discuss:
-
What type of training or education you’re pursuing or want to pursue (job training, certificate, associate degree)
-
Any barriers or support needs (e.g., childcare, transportation, financial aid)
-
Whether you're ready to move forward with enrollment or need more guidance
3. Intake into Launchpad
Once you’ve selected a program and you're ready to move forward, you’ll be entered into the Launchpad system. This intake may be completed by your coach or a designated community partner. The Launchpad intake collects the information needed for FutureTech program tracking, including basic eligibility details. Note that you will need supporting documentation for this portion: see your career coach or community partner for more information.
4. Ongoing Check-ins and Support
After enrollment, your GRCC Career/Student Success Coach will stay in touch to:
-
Help you apply to GRCC (if not already)
-
Monitor your progress through training or coursework
-
Update or adjust your plan as your needs or goals evolve
-
Share opportunities like employer networking events or workshops
5. Your Referring Partner Stays in the Loop
If you were referred by a community partner (e.g., Hispanic Center or Urban League), they will stay informed through CC'd emails or shared updates so that they can continue supporting you as needed.
