How to search for MA Only classes without a corequisite?

Summary

Many MA classes have versions that are by itself and some that require a corequisite, and students that need to take the version by itself will be prevented from enrolling into those that require a corequisite. There is a way to filter results when searching to find either type starting with Fall 2025 terms and beyond.

Body

Searching for Math (MA) Courses Without Corequisites

Question

How do I search for Math (MA) classes that do not require a corequisite?

Environment

  • GRCC Online Center

Information

Many Math (MA) courses offer two versions: a standalone version and a version that requires a corequisite course. If you have placed into a standalone math course, the system will prevent you from enrolling in a section that requires a corequisite. Starting with the Fall 2025 term and beyond, you can use search filters to find the correct version for your placement.

Answer

Follow these steps to filter your search for Math sections that do not require a corequisite:

  1. Log into your MyGRCC account and select the Online Center tile.
  2. Select the Add/Drop Classes tile.
  3. Select Class Search and Enroll and choose the appropriate term.
  4. In the search bar, type MA followed by a space and the three-digit course number (e.g., "MA 107"), then click the search arrow. Note: Do not click on the course results yet.
  5. Before selecting a specific course from the results, look at the filter menu located on the left-hand side of the screen.
  6. Scroll down the left-hand menu until you find the Class Attribute section.
  7. Check the box labeled MATH/MA *** Only (where *** is your course number). This filter removes all sections that require a corequisite.
  8. The number of available class options will decrease. You can now click on the course results to select and enroll in a standalone section.
