Student Loan Deferment offers a way to temporarily postpone loan repayments while back in school (enrolled in at least 6 credits), in the military, experiencing financial hardship, or in certain other situations. If enrolled in an eligible college or career school at least half-time (6 credits), in most cases the loan will be placed into a deferment automatically.

• If a form needs to be signed by someone at GRCC or if checking on the submitted form:
  • Yes: Provide Office of the Registrar (formerly Student Records) email: officeoftheregistrar@grcc.edu or connect with the office at 616-234-4121.
  • No: Students can log into their online account with their loan servicer for deferment and/or forbearance options and forms. To find out who the servicer is, go to studentaid.gov (opens in a new window). The Financial Aid office can assist more if needed at 616-234-4030.
