Students may now update their preferred name and gender identity in the Online Center. When students log on to their online center account and navigate to their Profile tile. They are able to add a preferred name on the Personal tab. They just need to click on the name line with the Type labeled Preferred then will be able to update and submit their preferred name.
Under the Biographic tab they can add their pronouns and gender identity. Pronouns are being pulled into various college systems, including showing on the GRCC FERPA check page and on printed class rosters.
Drop down options for pronouns:
- Address me by name
- He/Him/His
- Not in list

In alignment with IT's recent announcement that students can update their gender identity in the Online Center ("Self Service"), Navigate will now reflect students' updated gender identity when it differs from the gender previously captured in PeopleSoft.
Currently, student gender is only shown as an Advanced Search filter, as a data field in search/reporting results, and in the Analytics suite. Only staff and faculty with access to these tools will see the change. Student gender is not displayed on the Navigate student profile.
If students provide a gender identity of "Gender Not Listed" or "Prefer not to say", Navigate will reflect "Other" as the student gender.
GRCC's IT department also announced that students have the ability to provide their personal pronouns to the college via Self Service. Our goal is to bring that information into Navigate as well. However, EAB is still working on the process for doing so. More will be shared once that is developed.
