How do I set my web browser to clear cookies/cache automatically upon closing?

 

Environment

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Internet Explorer 

 

Resolution 

Google Chrome

  1. In the upper right corner click  
  2. Click Settings
  3. On the left hand side select Privacy and Security
  4. Click Site settings
  5. Expand Additional content settings
  6. Click On-device site data
  7. Select Delete data sites have saved to your device when you close all windows 


Mozilla Firefox

  1. In the upper right corner click  
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Privacy & Security 
  4. Under Cookies and Site Data click the check box next to Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed 

 

Internet Explorer

  1. In the upper right corner click   
  2. Click Internet Options
  3. In the General tab under Browsing history make sure the Delete browsing history on exit  
    • This should be grayed out and checked by default.  

 

Microsoft Edge

  1. In the upper right corner click 
  2. Click Settings 
  3. On the left hand side click Privacy, search and services 
  4. Scroll down under Clear browsing data and click Choose what to clear every time you close the browser 
  5. Toggle the switch next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files
