Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Transfer Bridges to the Humanities grant strategically partners Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) with the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (UM-LSA) to create robust pathways to support GRCC students in their successful transfer to UM-LSA. The Program Manager for the Transfer Bridges to the Humanities@Michigan Program will perform all duties related to the implementation of the grant requirements. This role will provide leadership, oversight, and coordination to GRCC grant stakeholders including, but not limited to, UM-LSA grant partners; faculty in humanities-related disciplines; Honors Program staff and faculty; transfer and articulation staff; academic advising faculty and staff; student support services faculty and staff; and GRCC students who intend to transfer to UM-LSA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Oversee the daily operations and management of the grant subcontract as directed by the Associate Provost of Instructional Support & Institutional Planning

Support collaboration among GRCC staff and faculty involved with the Transfer Bridges program, e.g. through scheduling meetings, planning events, and facilitating communication
-
Cooperate with the UM-LSA-based Project Manager on planning joint events, including working group meetings, training institutes, and writing retreats
-
Track student program participants for communication and assessment purposes

Compile information for, and assist with copyediting of the program annual report back to the Mellon Foundation

Manage grant budget, purchasing, contract, and related operations in coordination with GRCC finance and grants staffl and in cooperation with the UM-LSA-based Project Manager. Perform these duties in compliance with GRCC policies and procedures

Prepare timelines, reports, and analysis of student participation data to the Associate Provost of Instructional Support & Institutional Planning on a regular basis

Provide program updates to GRCC and UM-LSA stakeholders on a regular basis

Collaborate with the Director of Experiential Learning, the Director of Transfer & Articulation Services, and the Dean of Student Success to support the program

Communicate goals, objectives, and milestones to GRCC and UM-LSA stakeholders

Develop and implement a communication plan to inform students of upcoming events, results of activities, and opportunities for participation

Create and maintain a Transfer Bridges to the Humanities@Michigan Program website with program updates, opportunities, student achievements, community news, etc.

Lead the GRCC Transfer Bridges to the Humanities@Michigan Program Advisory Team and serve on other related college committees, teams, and community projects as appropriate and requested

Ensure that correspondence is acted upon, referring appropriate matters to grant stakeholders and following through to ensure action is taken

Ensure that general and confidential filing is maintained in a system allowing for ready retrieval of program records

Prepare bi-weekly reports and attend Instructional Support & Institutional Planning staff meetings as directed by the Associate Provost of Instructional Support & Institutional Planning

Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
-
Bachelor's Degree required; degree emphasis in humanities, social sciences, education, or related field is preferred

Master’s Degree preferred; degree emphasis in humanities, social sciences, education, higher education, leadership, or another related field is preferred

National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred
Work Experience
-
Experience working in a college/university student or academic affairs area
-
Experience managing a grant program
-
Knowledge of best practices in transfer services and strategies

Experience collaborating with students, academic faculty, staff, and community partners
-
Experience working with faculty to support curriculum and assessment, co-curricular programming, and event coordination

Experience with all aspects of programming including goal setting, project planning, implementation/logistics, evaluation, and reporting

Experience with academic applications for various technologies (video conferencing, ePortfolios, learning management systems, etc.)

Experience designing marketing materials, including web-and print-based, as well as use of social media platforms
Skills

Proficient in the use of electronic student information systems (PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office, Google Applications, and/or other related internet applications

Excellent presentation skills for individual and group audiences
