Position is responsible for the oversight, maintenance, implementation, and modifications of campus control systems to ensure the safety and security of students and employees. Responsible for overseeing and updating computerized key and lock records to ensure availability of up-to-date facility security information. Manages credentialing for campus security, intrusion, and fire panel systems. Grants card access using the Atrium and S2 electronic access systems and maintains and troubleshoots card reader hardware. Cuts new or replacement keys, picks locks for which keys have been lost or broken, and makes repairs of locks. Maintains an adequate and appropriate stock of locksmith supplies and equipment, monitors and reports maintenance issues needing attention to the appropriate authority, and performs other duties as assigned.
This position ensures that the College physical plant remains secure, while also working to provide staff and faculty with the proper access necessary to perform their roles and responsibilities while at the institution. Absent this role, College personnel would lack keys, and card access credentials while College security (locks) would become vulnerable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cut and issue keys and contracts. Keeps accurate and up-to-date records of all keys and locks
-
Oversee, utilize, and manage the S2 system to perform the following:
-
Electronic reset of door modules and nodes for the purpose of fixing electronic issues
-
Create varying door access programs for departments across campus
-
Perform unlock and lock functions of all doors
-
Cross reference door access with key access when requests are received
-
Perform Campus lockdowns for different security reasons
-
Work with IT on program related S2 issues
-
Review S2 automated reports daily for issues with doors or readers
-
Troubleshoot mercury panels using a laptop to perform hard resets at the panels. Confirm operation using the technology to activate nodes and check for proper response.

Monitor building floor plans for changes that need to be made for accuracy purposes

Assist in assigning door numbers to floor plans as needed

Oversee, utilize, and manage the Atrium system to perform the following:

Assign access levels for all Staff, Faculty, and Student Raider Cards
-
Check door access information for any door and at any location
-
Check parking access information for any Raider Card
-
Create card access levels in Atrium to allow S2 readers to communicate correctly between programs. Confirm successful data integration with both programs to ensure proper system operations.

Audit Raider Card access reports for card access errors
-
Grant card access using the Atrium and S2 electronic access systems. Maintain and troubleshoot card reader hardware

Provide assistance and support to GRCC Police by:
-
Create weekend event schedules for doors
-
Create weekly class schedules that fall outside of the normal building operating hours
-
Open and close doors as requested by approved personnel
-
Administer Campus lockdowns for inclement weather & other security reason
-
Complete soft resets of doors as a first step in troubleshooting a door that is not functioning properly
-
Manage and maintain the Keystone Web key system for college security by keeping accurate records of hardware changes and new lock installations in each building, and repairing, and maintaining cylinders for locks in the master key system

Manage EPS security, intrusion, and fire panel credentialing. Maintain records

Monitor, maintain, and update multiple sophisticated security systems

Maintains accurate and current records of all campus access and security systems (Keystone, Atrium, S2, EPS, etc.)

Ability to lay out and modify key systems for the entire campus

Oversee and implement rekeying/security/access initiatives
-
Provide direction to carpenters when performing locksmith duties
-
Provide independent management and supervision to college facility bond/capital outlay projects, new construction, renovations and internal facility projects ranging from $1,000 to exceeding $1,000,000, particularly those with major infrastructure improvements with trades staff involvement and input

Review blue prints, project specifications/manuals, & hardware schedules for projects
-
Work with contractors on projects. Provides assistance at all stages of design and construction of college projects by determining the requirements for locking devices and systems from blueprints, schematics, or sketches, making recommendations for such systems based upon knowledge of available products, and installing or monitoring the installation of locking devices or systems on renovated or newly constructed facilities

Analyzes and interprets hardware, door schedules, and lock patterns, updates information based on user requests and needs

Ability to cut new or replacement keys for authorized personnel following campus procedures using the Genericode, REED, Ilco 24 cutter and HPC 1200 CMB Blitz systems

Ensures that an adequate and appropriate stock of locksmith supplies and equipment is available

Oversee and support the repairs and replacement of electronic strikes on campus doors

Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
-
A minimum of a high school degree or GED diploma
-
Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft Office for programming, data base input, reporting, creation of spreadsheets and communication with staff
Work Experience
-
3-5 years’ experience in an academic/institutional, commercial, or industrial maintenance preferred
-
3 years as a locksmith in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting preferred
-
Knowledge and experience in design, planning, installation, maintenance, and repair of door locks, cylinders, cores and related door hardware

Knowledge of Atrium and S2 electronic access systems
